William (Bill) Werle

Obituary Text

William (Bill) passed away peacefully on August 12, 1998 at the Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home, he was 94 years old. Bill was born on January 2, 1904 on the family farm five miles north of Langenburg, SK to Valentine and Margaret (Graf) Werle. He was the oldest of seven children. On February 10, 1929, Bill was united in marriage to Rosina (Rose) Metz in the Landestreu Church. Bill and Rose farmed just north of Langenburg until they moved to their new home in town in 1966. though they no longer lived on the farm, raising cattle and growing grain remained Bill's passion until the very day he passed on. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, always interested in what each family member was doing. he was hones, kind and always faithful to his church. He became a resident of the Care Home in July of 1992 and resided there until his death. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Rose; and daughter-in-law Shirley in 1997; his parents; his sister Helene; brother Ludwig, Henry, Gustav and Edward; sisters-and brothers-in-law. He leaves to mourn his passing his sons, Lloyd (Luella) Werle and Gerald Werle; his daughter Valerie (Norris) Reichmuth; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Pamela), Kelly and Brent Werle, Kerry (Jennifer) Werle and Blaine Werle, Jodi and Mark (Sarah) Reichmuth; his sister Erna (Norman) Yeske, sisters- and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Prayers with Pastor Gary Schenk were offered at Braendle-Bruce Chapel in Russell, MB on Sunday evening, August 16, 1998. Funeral service was on Monday August 17, 1998 from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Langenburg, SK with Pastor Gary Schenk presiding. Organist Maxine Werle led the congregation in the singing of hymns "Spirit of Gentleness", "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" and " How Great Thou Art". Bill's niece, Jayne Andres gave a most touching tribute to her uncle. Pall bearers were Bill and Rose's seven grandchildren. Ushers were Don and Tom Werle. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery followed by a time of fellowship in the Parish Hall.
